Our Take

domains.co.za is the perfect partner for small to medium sized businesses, or individuals with personal side projects, who want to take control of and enhance their digital presence. Larger enterprise clients who operate large websites or rely on international traffic may become limited to domains.co.za’s product and service offerings, but that doesn’t mean you can get started with them.

The domain name for this website, TheFrontline, was registered with domains.co.za, still is, and I can confidently say that I have had great service alongside superior customer support for several years now.

About domains.co.za

domains.co.za is one of South Africa’s leading domain name registrars and web hosting solutions provider.

Domains.co.za was the first domain name registrar in South Africa to launch a White Labeled Multi Registrar EPP Solution which allows companies to become registrars on their co.za Registry / Registrar EPP platform.

Products & Services

Choose from various digital products and services, often more than likely complementary. domains.co.za offers Domains, Web Hosting, Hosted PBX, a Site Builder, and Security Solutions.

Register domains, transfer your domains to domains.co.za, conduct a whois lookup, or protect your personal information with domain name privacy.

For your web hosting needs, choose between SSD web hosting powered by DirectAdmin or more traditional CPanel web hosting, WordPress hosting, email-only hosting, and lastly VPS hosting.

Move your customer communication to the cloud with a new product offering from domains.co.za launched in 2022, is Hosted PBX (private telephone network) which includes uncapped voice minutes and is hosted in the cloud.

Domains.co.za also has a powerful drag and drop website builder. This is really useful if you are new to building websites and is easy to use.

Choose from over 230 premade templates in various categories such as Blog templates, e-commerce templates, education and more, or get started with a blank template.

Domains.co.za has two Sitebuilder plans, a LITE version at R 109.00 p/m, and PRO version at R 199.00 p/m. Included in both plans is a free domain name, free web hosting, and free emails. You can try a live demo here.

To keep things secure, domains.co.za offers Domain Validated SSL certificates, as well as Organization Validated SSL certificates. Additionally, on the security front, secure your devices with leading antivirus and internet security solutions.

What sets domains.co.za apart from competitors

domains.co.za offers a 60 day money back guarantee along with the ability to cancel at any time and a 99.9% update promise. In addition domains.co.za also has two reselling programs and a referral program.

Their platform is easy to use and does not feel overwhelming or overly complicated.

Furthermore, customer support is super responsive and friendly, while their website contains numerous resources in the form of a knowledge base and blog articles.

Client Portal

Your personal client portal is easy to access with your username and password.

Once inside, you are greeted with your dashboard which gives you an overview of your account information, and an overview of your account in terms of how many domains you have registered, support tickets and number of referred sign ups via their affiliate program (more on this later).

You can also view your invoices and select to pay them all right from your dashboard. There is also the ability to enable two-factor authentication on your account for added security.

Compared to other registrars like dreamhost.com for example, domains.co.za has all your account information quite centralized and easy to access with a simplistic design.

Customer Support

Domains.co.za uses a ticketing system to take care of customer support. Before submitting a ticket though, you’re urged to check their pretty thorough knowledge base, this can save you a lot of time.

When submitting a ticket, you’re able to choose the most appropriate category among options which include Sales, Accounts, Support, Registrar Support, Abuse, WordPress, Professional Services, Help Desk, and Voip.

After selecting your category, simply enter your contact details, message and attachment if necessary.

Support is fast and always available as well as friendly. Through the years of being a domains.co.za customer, I’ve personally submitted over 10 support requests, mainly technical queries and assistance needed, and my problems have always been resolved within 48 hours.

I should also add that domains.co.za’s support staff know their stuff and are well versed with their product offering and the more technical details thereof.

Pricing

As mentioned previously in the introduction to this article, domains.co.za allows companies to become registrars on their co.za Registry / Registrar EPP platform. This means that many domain name registrars offer domains via their reselling program, and allows domains.co.za to offer you the best prices on domain names in South Africa.

Not only are their domain name prices really affable and transparent, unlike some registrars which catch you with a good deal today and retain you on higher renewal prices in future, but their complementary products are affordable too and great for any small to medium sized business, or even a personal side project.

Reselling

domains.co.za has two reselling programs available. You can become a domain name reseller, and a web hosting reseller.

With their domain name reseller program, you can resell domains on their platform from R76.00 per domain name, and with their web hosting reseller program, you are able to resell web hosting on SSD servers from R 339.00 per month.

Referral Program

domains.co.za also provides all customers their own unique referral link which allows you to earn commissions on selected products and services.

Conclusion: Trust domains.co.za as your preferred domain name registrar.

Register your domain names with domains.co.za and use them in conjunction with domains.co.za’s complementary products and services.

Once you outgrow these products, it might be time to move on to a larger web host with more resources, however you can always just point your domain name to another host and remain with domains.co.za.

If you operate large websites with lots of traffic or your traffic is predominately international, domains.co.za might not be best for you.
